Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel gain significant spots in the latest ICC T20I rankings
Suryakumar Yadav’s furious run with the bat continued as he conjured another magical display against South Africa to help India across the line on a difficult surface to bat on. However, even before he came out to bat in the curtain-raiser, it was an extraordinary climb again for the Indian middle-order batter in the ICC T20I batting echelons.
The Mumbai Indians batter found himself grabbing the second spot in the ICC T20I batting rankings. With a sumptuous 36-ball-69 against Australia in the final T20I, he finished in the second spot just ahead of Babar Aam whose impressive run against England has kept him afloat at the top of the rankings.
These rankings may shuffle again as Pakistan still has a couple of T20Is to go against England while India will be playing two more games in the shortest format of the sport against the travelling Proteas.
England’s Harry Brook and Ben Duckett gained significant positions in the rankings too after reckoning showdowns against Pakistan. Brook moved up to the 29th position while Duckett grabbed the 32nd position in the rankings.
Axar Patel also had a memorable series against Australia where he finished as the highest-wicket taker and brought his form to the South Africa series where he sealed another brilliant display in the opener. He moved up 15 positions to clinch the 18th spot in the ICC bowling rankings.
RCB quick, Josh Halewood still continues to lead the bowler’s list with Tabraiz Shamsi, Adil Rashid, Rashid Khan, Wanindu Hasaranga and Adam Zampa following suit in the exact order mentioned.
