Steve Smith's valuable advice for Team India
It's unusual for an opponent like Australia to share advise with a touring team. But things have changed in recent times. After India’s Adelaide debacle which saw them register a meagre 36/9 in the second innings, Australia’s Steve Smith has a valuable piece of advice for the tourists.
Smith’s advise comes ahead of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.
“Look, the other day we just saw some pretty incredible fast bowling. It is probably the best I’ve seen our bowlers bowl collectively for about five years I think,” Smith said in a virtual media conference facilitated by Sony Network.
“The lengths they were hitting were just impeccable. Sometimes that happens, you get a good ball and you nick it. You got to let it go and move on and try and keep yourself in a positive mindset,” the 31-year-old added.
“Again every individual is different, the way they take their dismissals, how they think about the game after it’s finished. It’s important to keep moving forward, look at yourself individually, what you could have done better.”
However, Smith, who loves batting at MCG, also cautioned India against whom he has an impeccable record in Tests.
“I like batting at the MCG on those sorts of big occasions. I’d like to try and make the most of them,” he added.
As far as Boxing Day Tests are concerned, here too Smith is head and shoulders above others. He first made an appearance in Boxing Day Test during 2010-11 Ashes and since then has scored four centuries and three half-centuries in seven games.
