BCCI rejigs schedule for home series against West Indies
The BCCI on Friday released a rejigged schedule for the home series against West Indies in February. Amidst a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the country, the governing body has taken the call to restrict the series to only two cities and venues - Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
"The decision to limit the series to two venues instead of six as originally announced has been done to mitigate biosecurity risks by cutting down on travel and movement of the teams, match officials, broadcasters, and other stakeholders," read the media release by the BCCI.
The series consisting of 3 ODIs and as many T20Is will begin on the 6th of February with the ODI leg, with the final game of the tour scheduled to be played on the 20th of February. While Ahmedabad will be hosting the ODI leg of the tour, the Eden Gardens in Kolkata will play host to the T20Is. The original schedule for the series consisted of 6 venues, that included Jaipur, Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram apart from Ahmedabad and Kolkata.
Apart from the change in venues, the final game of the ODI series has also been preponed by a day, and will now be held on the 11th of February.
The revised schedule for the tour:
1st ODI - 6th February 2022 - Ahmedabad
2nd ODI - 9th February 2022 - Ahmedabad
3rd ODI - 11th February 2022 - Ahmedabad
1st T20I - 16th February 2022 - Kolkata
2nd T20I - 18th February 2022 - Kolkata
3rd T20I - 20th February 2022 - Kolkata
