India U19 thrash Uganda in merciless fashion as Raj Bawa wreaks havoc

Are you familiar with the phrase “total domination”? It frequents the pages of history books with rare appearances in reality. However, the youth of India just manifested one of those rare moments yesterday when they took down the Ugandan U19 team mercilessly in the last group fixture of the U19 World Cup.

Opting to bat first, India were confronted with an early scare after Harnoor Singh was shown the pavilion for a paltry 15 while stopgap skipper, Nishant Sandhu replicated the same figures only playing more deliveries.

However, Angkrish Raghuvanshi continued the onslaught that left the Ugandan bowlers twisted in a knot. Uganda’s title chase started on a tumbling note with the cream of their batting being stripped off in no time that saw Hangargekar scalping a crucial brace to lead the Indian bowling charge. Stand-in captain, Nishant Sidhu chipped in with a late explosion that cleaned up the Ugandan tail in no time whatsoever.

The Ugandan skipper, Pascal Murungi managed to stitch the last shard of resilience for the undercooked outfit as he scored 34 from 45 balls before being bested by his Indian counterpart.

The Indian captain, Nishant Sindhu claimed four wickets for just 19 runs while Hangargekar managed to claim a brace for the 8 runs that he leaked from his quota of 3 overs.

India will have their task cut out when they face the mighty Bangladesh U19 who are currently the defending champions of the world. This will be the second Super League quarterfinal which is slated to be played at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
