Team India to depart to Australia on October 6th for preparatory camp ahead of World Cup
The Indian team is all set to depart for Australia on 6th of October, just two days after the T20 series against South Africa comes to an end, to be a part of a preparatory camp ahead of the T20 World Cup. This also signifies that the selectors would likely be opting for a second-string squad to be led by Shikhar Dhawan for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa.
India will be training in Perth till October 13th where they will also be playing a practice contest against Western Australia before flying to Brisbane to square off with the hosts and New Zealand in two warm-up matches ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Five of Team India’s World Cup squad members haven’t been a part of top-flight cricket Down Under previously that feature the names of Suryakumar Yadav, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Hooda and Ravi Bishnoi.
Even though Hooda is yet to be cleared medically, the officials believe that the all-rounder will be making the cut for Team India in due time. Bumrah's inclusion, however, is still a mystery.
India is placed in Group 2 in the ICC event alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa and two other qualifying teams. They will be playing their opener at the MCG on October 23rd against arch-rivals Pakistan, which will be followed by contests on 27th, 30th, November 2nd and 6th.
