Steven Smith predicts good Test careers for two RCB pacers
With Ishant Sharma already missing out, Indian bowling had high hopes from the other two regulars – Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami in the Border Gavaskar Test series. But with Shami fracturing his bowling arm, and subsequently getting ruled out of the remaining matches of the series, India find themselves in a spot of bother.
However, the squad has two other RCB pacers waiting for a the golden chance to play Australia in Australia. Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj are new to the international scene, with no Test cap between them.
But Australia batsman Steve Smith thinks that duo has the quality India are seeking in the absence of Shami and Ishant.
“I think they (Saini and Siraj) are two quality bowlers who can have some good Test careers. Obviously, they are missing Ishant (Sharma) as well, which is a big loss for them in terms of experience,” Smith told reporters
Smith was removed cheaply by Ashwin in the first innings of the Adelaide Test and has claimed that he has learnt his lessons from the dreaded outing.
“The spinners that do well here generally those who get over the top of the ball and beat you with more bounce or in the air as opposed to ones that come around the ball,” Smith said.
“It’s about finding a way to adapt and that’s what the best players do around the world. I’ll hopefully learn something from that, move forward and play a little bit better in the next game,” he added further.
India and Australia are gearing up for the Boxing Day Test which will be held in Melbourne.
