RCB Class of 22: Wicket-keepers
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s latest outing at the auction landed some big names and quite a few not-so-big names. However, the glittering antiquity of the fray has made it evidently clear that irrespective of the players’ stature, the equation changes dynamically when they take the field.
In today’s story, we will talk about our wicket-keeping options in the forthcoming edition of the IPL.
1. Dinesh Karthik
The first and foremost choice for wicket-keeping will undoubtedly be Tamil Nadu-born wicket-keeping batter, Dinesh Karthik. The ones who have been following him pretty closely would know the explosive chatterbox that he is behind the stumps. Irrespective of the upshot, he can inspire the bowlers and hatch strategies within the flash of a second. He is also in the second position on the list of the wicket-keepers with the highest number of dismissals in the IPL. He has affected 147 in total, just 14 adrift of the iconic MS Dhoni.
2. Finn Allen
We are all aware of the hitting flair of Allen but he is also a wicket-keeper and has shown decency behind the stumps. He is not much of a chatter but his aquiline reflexes and laserlike precision makes him a good pick for keeping the wickets.
3. Anuj Rawat
The young man hailing all the way from Uttarakhand didn’t get many opportunities in the IPL to prove himself. He is undoubtedly an amazing batter but his wicket-keeping skills are pretty underrated. He has a decent conversion rate behind the stumps that have seen him chip in with 28 catches and 6 stumpings. On the plus side, he is 22 years old and has a long way to go.
4. Luvnith Sisodia
Luvnith Sisodia brings dynamic batting to the table that we have already seen for the Hubli Tigers in the Karnataka Premier League. However, his consistency behind the stumps where he bagged 4 catches and also affected one stumping against Bellary Tuskers went unnoticed. He is an underappreciated gloveman but he is quick and has age on his side. He can be the pennant-bearer of excellence for the Challengers in the upcoming days.
