India U19 to play Uganda without five of their first team players

Much to the shock of the India U19 cricket team, captain Yash Dhull and four other players have been ruled out of the final group stage game against Uganda after testing positive for the virus. As per sources, out of the six isolated players, only Vasu Vats has tested negative.

Dhull, Aaradhya Yadav and Shaik Rasheed had all tested positive in the Rapid Antigen Tests on Wednesday while Manav Parakh and Vats had displayed symptoms of Covid 19 but tested negative on the RAT’s. Siddharth Yadav, meanwhile, tested positive for the virus.

The ICC source quoted, “One positive out of this unfortunate situation is that the 11 who played against Ireland have all tested negative.” Out of the ones who have been infected, Yash Dhull has exhibited the worst of symptoms.

Despite missing out on three of their first team players, the Indian cricket team put up a superior display against Ireland to qualify for the quarter-finals.

As per the tournament protocols, all the three infected players need to undergo five days of isolation and will have to return three negative tests within that period. It is believed that the infection must have happened while the team was in transit to the Caribbean via Amsterdam.

The source quoted, “The players mingled with the coach in that period and that seems be to be the most likely source of outbreak in the team.”

India’s next game is against Uganda and with the qualification already in place, there will be time for a few experiments to happen that will allow the team to test their bench.
