I am going to play exactly the same as I played last year: Harshal Patel
The Royal Challengers Bangalore found a new hero in Harshal Patel in the preceding edition of the tournament who managed to wring out 32 crucial scalps and became the only Indian bowler to rack up this herculean feat throughout the glittering antiquity of the fray.
He played a significant role in propelling the Challengers to the play-offs and his spells in the death overs were nothing short of wonders. He started his practice for the upcoming season after completing his 3-days quarantine and seeing him practice in the RCB colors was a face of sheer happiness for the fans.
He came unhinged on a lot of topics, talking on RCB Bold Diaries about the expectations that have been pinned on him and the objective that he has set for himself.
Talking about the price tag, he quoted, “I was not playing loose cricket when I was playing for Rs 20 lakh and I am going to play exactly the same as I played last year, whether I played for 10 lakh or 10.75 crores INR. It doesn’t really matter.”
Raving about what can be a possible new addition to his already shining arsenal, he said, “There are no new skills. All I can hope for is more precision in my execution. I want to get tighter with my execution. If I can do it, I will be very happy.”
He was also asked about how he is going to adapt to the Mumbai situation and Harshal responded, “What I bowl is what I know. That’s not going to change. What will change is how you adapt to these conditions, how you package your six balls because if I am playing in Chennai, I will be bowling slower balls, if I am going to play on these batting-friendly and bouncer pitches, I am going to package my over a bit differently. It’s just about adapting to different conditions, adapting to oppositions and I feel that any good player should be able to do that.”
Harshal will be a vital cog in the plans of the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the upcoming season and seeing him in full flow is an absolute delight.
