I am going to be more confident: Harshal Patel
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s leader of the bowling pack, Harshal Patel opened up about how this new season will be bringing an ocean of opportunities for the medium-fast bowler.
Talking about the faith that the Royal Challengers have vested in him, Patel also highlighted the fact that his experiences spanning from the IPL arcade to the international fabric will help him even more for the upcoming season.
Harshal became the first Indian bowler to claim 32 wickets in a single IPL season drawing him level with the Caribbean all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo in terms of the highest number of wickets claimed in a single edition. Post a fine IPL campaign, Harshal got called up for the national side and dished out decent figures and performances under the cosh.
Talking with Danish Sait on the RCB Unbox, he was heard quoting, “Probably, one thing that I am going to say is that I am going to be more confident. That’s the only change I feel because last year was a record-breaking season for me and whatever I have done for India is going to add up for me.”
He further added, “It has given me a lot of confidence in my ability and my skill. I will take all the confidence into this season’s IPL and see what we can do.”
Talking about RCB’s new captain, Faf du Plessis, “I haven’t had any interactions with him before this but I have really admired the kind of cricket that he plays. The way he handles himself and the way he carries himself, he is your role model team-player and I am really looking forward to playing under him,” he said.
He also shed light on his conversation with Faf, citing, “We were chatting about that before the event started. He said all the right things, ticked all the right boxes. I am very happy and excited that he is going to be our leader.”
Harshal will be a crucial part of the Challengers when they take the field for the fifteenth edition of the tournament with their first assignment being against the Punjab Kings.
