BCCI announces squads for T20I and ODI against West Indies
India announced its squad for the upcoming bilateral affair that will host the touring Caribbeans for three T20Is and three ODIs.
The rivalry will be renewed from the 6th of February that will witness the first ODI being played at the Narendra Modi stadium while the other two will follow suit at the same location.
The three T20Is are slated to be played in the Eden Gardens, Kolkata after BCCI rejigged the venues taking into consideration multiple factors preceding the event. This tournament will also pave India’s preparatory path for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The apex cricket authority of India has incorporated quite a few changes to check out the depth of the players in the upcoming days. However, the biggest news that will uplift the Indians is the return of their star opener and captain, Rohit Sharma.
India’s ODI squad saw the re-introduction of chinaman spinner, Kuldeep Yadav who will be back in the international circuit with his last showdown coming in against Sri Lanka.
A couple of significant changes that were made by the authority for both the squads was to rest two of India’s primary fast bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami who were superseded by Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar. India also added another batting option in Deepak Hooda as Venkatesh Iyer got the axe for the ODI series.
Ravi Bishnoi got the nod ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin who couldn’t bring out his best in the recently concluded South Africa series. India also announced its T20I squad that will be pitted against the visiting Caribbeans who are currently involved in a series against England.
The T20I squad witnessed the inclusion of Harshal Patel and Avesh Khan while Prasidh Krishna couldn’t find a door for himself. Ishan Kishan bagged a call-up as the backup wicketkeeper while Axar Patel, Venkatesh Iyer and Bhuvneshwar Kumar kept their claim in the sides.
Rohit Sharma will be leading the Indian contingency in both the series as India will be desperate to wring out significant results from the series.
